One of the worst things you can hear in life is when your doctor says, "There are no more options for you." What if you had to live your life thinking that there are no options, no way to turn your life around? Many times in life our health is taken for granted. Then something happens out of the blue that makes us think about life, our families and our health.
My twenty years of counseling thousands of people, training movie stars and exercising on an average five days a week, tells me that people are more committed to an exercise and weight loss program after some life-changing experience. It may be a death in the family, a broken bone, and a cancer scare ?an event that threatens to take something away from you. You have to get to a point of desperation, a broken spirit that says, "Ok, I get the point. What do I have to do? I do not like feeling this way anymore." In other words, you realize that there are no more options in life, but to move forward on a fitness program and better lifestyle. You have come to realize that "the pain of remaining the same is much greater than the pain of changing." Unfortunately, this has to happen in order to convince yourself that you need to do something. Or does it?

In twenty years of consistant exercising, maintaining a low percentage of body fat and working with thousands of successful stories in weight loss, here are three of the best attitudes to use for a weight loss and exercise program for the rest of your life.
ATTITUDE #1: IT’S NOT ABOUT THE NUMBERS!
The health clubs are always racking their brains trying to figure out why they have such a hard time keeping members coming back. Most owners would argue that cash flow and profit margins are the most important reason to retain membership. Yes, but what drives customers to these health clubs?
These owners have lost touch with what matters most, the customer! Give the customer more than they expect and they will continue to do business with you. Selling a product or service is about people more so than numbers on a spreadsheet.
SINK HOLES VS. POTHOLES
I want you to think of this principle in your workout. You know it is very easy to get burdened down with all the details of an exercise and diet program. While guidelines are necessary, at times focusing too much on the numbers can and will set you up for failure.
No commentsOsteoporosis is a condition that faces every baby boomer; man or woman. Women are more prone to getting this after menopause, but men can also have "porous bones." Women have much thinner bones and will lose calcium more quickly. Calcium is what makes up the content of the bones and when that is decreased your bones will become more fragile, brittle and break easily. Any type of sudden movement such as a sneeze can become a problem for someone with severe osteoporosis. Often times the patient isn’t aware they have this bone problem until the break has already occurred. Small compression fractures can occur in the spine and this creates the bent over appearance or widow’s hump. All of this happens silently and until you experience a bad break or have a lot of back pain; you may not know this is going on. So many of us are at risk of this debilitating disease; it really is becoming a public health concern. Some of the risk factors for developing osteoporosis include:
? Age. Osteoporosis will likely occur as you grow older and your bones lose density
? Race. Caucasian women are among the highest risks categories, but African American women are at risk as well.
No commentsAny dietary plan on the market has some portion of it that works, but the basic principle of any good eating program, no matter how sugarcoated, centers around calories IN- calories OUT. Most diets are just too unrealistic for a person’s lifestyle. Plus they don’t supply enough basic nutritional needs for people to stay with them. Balance is the key! Attitude is the key to keeping balance!!
Here are five mindsets to take when dealing with weight and food.
Perspectives toward food
Ask yourself, "Why do I eat?" Most will say, "I eat because I have to." Well, think about it. Do you? If you eat just because you have to, then your choices will be more for taste. If you ate with the attitude that food was fuel, then how would you eat? You may be more likely to make a quality choice. Your attitude toward food is very important!
Pattern of eating
Do you drive the same way to work every day? Do you go to the same grocery store? Do you hang out with the same people most of the time? The same thing is true with your food.
No commentsHGH is an exciting new phenomenon, which aspires to help us defy age, build muscle, increase vitality, and improve our quality of life in ways we have not yet discovered. Understandably, the public desperately needs and wants these benefits and is spending large amounts of money on growth hormone products. However, as with any new technology, the market is unstable and there are many unproven products and sketchy companies looking to capitalize on this growing demand and make a quick buck.
When considering purchasing an HGH product or starting HGH therapy, follow the guidelines below to get the most from your purchase and avoid getting ripped off.
Avoid Unrealistic Claims ? If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Remember, the FDA does not yet regulate HGH. This enables sellers to be more liberal with their claims by choosing their wording carefully or by using fine print disclaimers. If you see a product offering 20 lbs of muscle mass in 30 days without lifting weights, or saying that you’ll look 10 years younger instantly, please use your common sense. HGH treatments usually take at least 3 months to show results. Anything telling you otherwise is just hype. If it looks like a sales pitch, it’s best to move on.
No commentsSprouts not only taste good, but they are also a great source of vitamins, fiber, protein, anti-oxidants, and enzymes. A sprout is produced when a seed starts growing into a vegetable. Sprouts can grow from the seeds of vegetables, from grains such as buckwheat, and from beans. While Mung beans are perhaps the most common source of sprouts, you can also obtain good results from lentils, soybeans and chickpeas just to name a few.
Sprouts can be grown almost anywhere and the best part is you only need a few basic supplies to get started. By following a few simple steps, you can receive a continual supply of nutritious sprouts.
While there are several commercial products available to cultivate sprouts, here are three of the easiest methods to help you get started.
- Growing Sprouts in Flower Pots -
1. Start with a clean clay or plastic flower pot. Make sure there is a hole in the bottom of the pot to ensure good drainage. Then place a piece of cheesecloth or muslin in the bottom of the pot over the hole so that the seeds/beans cannot fall out.
No commentsLets discuss what I term as Muscle and Fitness — The First Key.
In a previous article, I went through the ‘Three Keys To Success’ in any muscle and fitness regime that you use.
Remember — ‘BE - DO - HAVE’?
If you missed this article, you can get it here… Fitness Goal
If you’ve read it, here’s just a very quick overview of what it was about:
1. Decide what you want to HAVE. What are your goals?
2. Decide what the necessary steps are, that you must DO to reach those goals.
3. Choose what you need to BE. What do you need to become in order to DO what is necessary to HAVE what you want?
If you are at all confused about this article, please re-read it, and again if necessary. You’ve really got to get this right so that you can succeed in anything you choose to do, including achieving any sort of success with your fitness goals.
Assuming you understand the concept I’ve just discussed, here are the ten most important steps of the ‘HAVE’ key:
No commentsI don’t have much of a problem with belly pouch or bulge, since I’ve been doing one ab exercise or another for most of my life to make my abs flat.
But most of you haven’t done any kind of ab exercise recently or ever in your life so you can benefit by my experience with one particular ab exercise especially.
I know a small ab exercise that can literally whittle your waistline and work your abs at the same time. If you work diligently at this ab exercise, that is.
Here is my ab exercise:
Lie on your back with your knees bent, feet resting on the floor.
Bend your right leg sideways and rest your right ankle on your left knee.
Link your fingers behind your head and situp, twisting your torso as you do, so that your left elbow touches your right knee.
Then lay back down and repeat 20 times. If you’re a beginner at ab exercise you may want to work your way up slowly, starting with five ab exercises everyday and each week adding one more ab exercise on.
No commentsWhen was the last time you focused so much on a task that you forgot to eat? You did not really forget, but you were too much interested in what you were working on to stop doing it and go to the fridge. Years ago, when your body was slim and your head swollen with projects, did you ever think that to be a grown up would not mean to be responsible and free?
Stop looking for somebody to sue: nobody shovelled food in your mouth. Stop whining about commercials that influence you: nobody tied you up in front of the telly. Stop opening your mouth and closing your mind. You know, everybody know, that the higher the education, the lower the weight. If you point at a person you know who has a PhD and 30 extra pounds, you act exactly as those people who say that there is no correlation between smoking and lung cancer since their grand father died of old age after having smoked thousands of cigarettes. I don’t write for you. Bye bye!
A hot cup of tea might be just the thing to soothe a sore throat, warm the body, or relax with after a stress-filled day. But tea is more than just a comfort drink. Its healthful properties make it a smart choice for just about everyone. Tea has been used as a medicine in other cultures for many years, but it has only recently gained a great deal of media attention for the many nutritional benefits it offers.
Tea’s Medicinal Past
While most Westerners drink tea for pleasure and refreshment, people in the East, particularly Japan and China have drunk tea for medicinal reasons for centuries. For over 5,000 years, the Chinese have been serving up tea as both a refreshing beverage and a drink that touts many healthful qualities. Tea, according to the Japanese and Chinese cultures, offers a variety of healing properties for the body. Now, as more studies are conducted at major medical institutions, doctors are realizing that tea is something more than just a hot beverage served with lemon and sugar.
